Tax FAQ’s

  • What do you need from me to prepare my tax return?

In short, I will need all your tax documents, your prior year’s tax return, and your driver’s license for e-file identity verification. I will provide a digital tax organizer to help you gather all the information I will need to prepare your return.

  • What are your fees for tax preparation?

For 1040 returns, I charge a base fee of $150, and a flat fee for each additional form your return requires. A breakdown of the fees per form will be provided upon return completion. Please see the Pricing section of my website.

For partnership or S-corp returns, the fee depends upon the size & complexity of the business.

  • How will we work together remotely?

Our relationship will almost always begin with a phone call so I can get to know you & your needs. After that, I generally send emails when I need to reach out to you, or you can schedule a phone call via my Contact Me page.

I use a state-of-the art client portal that allows us to work remotely easily & securely. Once you are invited to the portal, you can access it via the top menu of my website. Inside the client portal, we can share documents, complete your tax organizer, and I can gather e-signatures.

  • How long will it take for my return to be prepared?

I strive to prepare returns faster than the average CPA. I will never keep you waiting for months, as sometimes happens with tax preparers. If you come to me early in the tax season and are well organized, I can have the return finished in a few days. During peak season (3/1 to 4/15), it may take around two weeks from start to finish. Regardless, all returns will be filed by the deadline.

The best way to expedite your return is to provide me all your tax documents & requested items as early in the year as possible, have them well organized, and respond to my communications promptly.

  • How do I pay you?

Along with the e-signature pages necessary to file your tax return, I will provide an invoice detailing my fees. On the invoice, I will request your e-signature which will authorize me to collect my fees via bank transfer. I will use the same bank account you provide to me for your tax return refund or payment.

If you prefer to pay via check or credit card, please reach out to me. An additional 3% processing fee will be added for card transactions.

  • How do I make estimated tax payments?

You can make a payment easily on the IRS website: Direct Pay - Internal Revenue Service

As a rough estimate, you should pay 25% of your profit from self employment to the IRS according to the following schedule. If you overpay, you will get a refund at tax time.
